West Ward 3rd Graders Tour the Museum
On February 3rd 2012, Mrs. Cochrans Third grade class from West Ward Elemetry toured the museum. Amanda Strickfaden, Allen Philley, Mandi Landstra, and Marilyn Boyce were the guides and gave a terrific tour. The children (and the adult chaperones) all seemed to really enjoy themselves, and asked a LOT of questions, some of which baffled some of our guides.
This was Mandi's first tour and she handled it like a trooper, of course it helps that she is a child at heart. Mandi took the main floor and kept the tour moving along nicely, even telling stories along the way.
Allen handled the area that most kids want to see the most, the Jail. It seemed like everyone learned a lot from Allen as lots of "ooh's" and "aah's" could be heard from the main floor.
Marilyn took the basement, and prepared for it by removing the gavel from the judges bench (do you blame her?). Several comments were heard about her "authentic wardrobe". Good job Marilyn!
Amanda (who took time on her birthday to give the tour) tackled the upstairs, and organized the whole tour. It seems that Amanda is really coming into her own giving these tours.
Good job, and thank you to all of our volunteers for giving there time to make this tour a success. And thank you to Mrs. Cochran, her well behaved students, and the adult chaperones for visiting the museum, and hopefully learning a little more about Allegan's History.
